After 300 days, Irondale has completed the due diligence work that will bring Costco to the community.

Irondale Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. announced the accomplishment on social media this weekend.

Below is the post:

Costco to bring Irondale 200-400 jobs

One of the most anticipated retail projects in the Birmingham-Metro area, the new 152,000 square foot Costco is expected to bring 200-300 jobs and $6 to $8 million per year in new sales tax revenue to Irondale.

The due diligence phase was completed ten months after the city first announced the Costco project in July 2025.

If all goes as planned, the city expects Costco to open at 4514 Grants Mill Trail, near Mercedes Benz of Alabama in Spring 2028.

“We are happy that we’ve been able to close the deal.”
