Break out the lawn chairs and shake out those picnic blankets—Movies on the Mountain is returning to Vulcan Park & Museum for a summer movie night with one of the best views in town.

On Saturday, June 13, kick off the season with an iconic ‘90s movie favorite guaranteed to be a slam dunk. Read on for details, tickets and what else you need to know before you go.

Hosted by the Vulcan Junior Board, Movies on the Mountain is one of Birmingham’s favorite seasonal traditions, bringing together family-friendly films, scenic views of the Magic City skyline and community fun atop Red Mountain.

Next up: Movie night is bringing the nostalgia with “Space Jam,” everyone’s favorite ‘90s basketball classic. On Saturday, June 13, gather the whole family to watch the iconic chaos unfold as the Looney Tunes team up with basketball superstar Michael Jordan to take on a team of alien invaders.

  • Parking is included in the ticket fee, though rideshare or carpooling are encouraged due to limited space

  • Dogs are welcome, too—must be on a leash. Waste stations are provided throughout the park, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

You may drive past the iconic Vulcan statue every day, but did you know Vulcan Park is free and open to the public seven days a week? When the kids get restless this summer, pack a picnic to enjoy on the grassy lawn or take a hike down Vulcan Trail (it’s paved—perfect for strollers!).
