Soft serve ice cream shop New Shoes opening May 21
Reading time: 2 minutes

Homewood has a brand new ice cream shop located right in the heart of downtown.
New Shoes Soft Serve is opening today, Thursday, May 21 at 2856-A 18th Street South, a corner unit that was the former location of Thomas Andrew Art, Home & Faith and Chocolate America.
The shop’s hours are noon till 8PM.
Wil Drake, founder of former Hero Doughnuts — and the now-open Full Circle Donuts — is behind the new operation, so we know we’re in for a real treat.
Soft serve with a twist
We haven’t gotten a taste of the New Shoes menu quite yet, but based on some sneak peeks, the soft serve shop looks like it has plenty of deliciousness in store.
The shop made its debut at the Taste of Homewood in March, taking home 2nd place in the People’s Choice Awards for its tiny soft serve ice cream cone samples.
Since then, the soft serve spot gave locals another preview in April during Indie Bookstore Day at the Little Professor Bookshop. A few of New Shoes’ menu items included:
- The Sorcerer’s Cone: Vanilla sweet cream soft serve, fruity pebbles + Ube condensed milk
- Crumbelina: Brownie batter soft serve, Daughters Baking magic crunch + peanut butter sauce
