Hero founder Wil Drake is bringing back the original doughnut shop he established after the Pihakis Restaurant Group closed the chain.

Drake made the announcement on social media earlier this week, issuing an appeal for bakers, line cooks, baristas and cashiers.

The new name for the shop is aptly called “Full Circle Doughnuts.” It will return to the 1726 28th Ave S. location in downtown Homewood near the Dance Foundation, Little Professor and Salice (formerly Luca Lagatto).

Full Circle’s goal is to be a true gathering space for the community, according to its website. A few exciting qualities of the new shop include:

  • 5% of every Sunday’s sales rotates between local nonprofits
  • Free coffee for first responders
  • Named regulars
  • A chalkboard with neighbor news

“We grow by being known, not by being big.”

In addition to Wil Drake’s famous doughnuts, Full Circle will also offer burgers, shakes and breakfast.

The shop will open daily at 7AM and close at 1PM.

No reopening announcement yet, but their social media says it is coming this month.
