The Cassimus family, founders of Zoë’s Kitchen, announced today they will open ZOZO’s Kitchen, a new independent, family-owned restaurant venture in the Birmingham-metro area.
Led by John Cassimus, the family will open ZOZO’s flagship restaurant in Homewood at 1830 29th Ave South Suite 115 (former CAVA site) on Friday, May 1.
On Thursday, April 30, the restaurateurs will rebrand their current Zoë’s & Marky’s Kitchen restaurants in Cahaba Heights and Tuscaloosa to ZOZO’s Kitchen.
“When we decided to open our own kitchen again — our own independent venture — we knew exactly what it had to feel like. This isn’t a restaurant concept. This is personal. This is our family’s food, our family’s values and our family’s table. And everyone is welcome here.”
John Cassimus, ZOZO’s Kitchen
Cassimus told Bham Now that patrons can expect some of the family’s all-time favorites on the menu, including:
- Chicken rollup
- Chicken salad sandwich
- Ribeye rollup
Watch how the chicken salad sandwich is made:
“ZOZO’S Kitchen opens its doors with the same family dedication that built something special decades ago. New name. New venture. Same family.”

Each ZOZO’S Kitchen location will feature family photographs spanning three decades, telling the story of a family that never stopped cooking.
In addition to the May 1 Homewood location opening, Cassimus also announced a new ZOZO’s Kitchen will be opened in Hoover this summer.
