Walmart renovation in Leeds among new high-dollar building permits

This past week saw 18 new building permits issued throughout the state for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits included projects in Auburn, Opelika, Huntsville and the Birmingham metro.
One of the priciest of these permits was for a renovation project at the Walmart Supercenter in Leeds. This is one of 12 Alabama Walmart locations that will undergo renovations this year.
Walmart renovations in Leeds
Walmart announced earlier this month that more than 600 of its stores would undergo renovations. This includes Walmart Supercenters and Walmart Neighborhood Markets. One such project was approved last week in Leeds, as the Walmart Supercenter there will now undergo a $5 million renovation.
Renovations include:
- Wider aisles
- Expanded pickup and delivery services
- New digital touchpoints throughout stores
- Updated vision centers and pharmacies (private consultation rooms)
- Modern signage
- Improved parking and landscaping
White Spunner Construction was issued the building permit as the lead contractor.
The Leeds location is one of 12 Walmart stores that will undergo renovations. The others include:
- Adamsville Walmart Supercenter at 2473 Hackworth Road
- Brent Walmart Supercenter at 10675 Highway 5
- Brewton Walmart Supercenter at 2578 Douglas Ave.
- Florence Walmart Supercenter at 3100 Hough Road
- Jasper Walmart Supercenter at 1801 Highway 78 East
- Madison Walmart Supercenter at 8650 Madison Blvd.
- Montgomery Walmart Supercenter at 851 Ann Street
- Muscle Shoals Walmart Supercenter at 301 Avalon Avenue
- Oxford Walmart Supercenter at 92 Plaza Lane
- Talladega Walmart Supercenter at 214 Haynes Street
- Theodore Walmart Neighborhood Market at 7320 Dawes Road
