An new coffee shop with extended hours is open now, offering a wide variety of both traditional coffee drinks and teas to some that many patrons may be unfamiliar with.

Bayt Al-Qahwah is a Yemini coffee shop offering up both traditional coffees in addition to some Yemen-inspired drinks, which include:

  • Saudi Coffee: Light roast saffron, cardamom, and cloves
  • Yemeni Tea with mint: Black tea, cardamom, cloves
  • Adeni Tea: Black tea, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and cream
  • Mofowar: Medium roast with blend of cardamom and cream
  • Red Tea with mint: Black tea, cardamom, bayt spices

Customers can grab a variety of Middle Eastern pastries to pair with their delicious drinks, such as:

  • Sabaya
  • Baklawa
  • Basbossa
  • Samboosa
  • Warbat
  • Kunafa
  • Fatayer

The new spot is also offering something that we don’t have much of in other Birmingham-area coffee shops — extended hours, allowing remote workers with odd hours, late-night studying or flexible social meetups. Currently, hours are listed as 1PM until 10PM on Sundays through Thursdays and until midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

“We are dedicated to bringing the authentic flavors of Yemen right here to Alabama, where coffee lovers can experience its unique aroma and taste.

“Our carefully selected beans are sourced from local farmers in Yemen, ensuring that each cup we serve tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship.”

Bayt Al-Quahwah, About Us page

Yemini coffee, according to Food & Wine magazine, is having a bit of a moment in the spotlight as new shops pop up across the country.

As opposed to more well-known coffee varieties from Italy or South America, Yemini coffee tends to be sweeter and have a more rustic flavor.

The shop’s hours are currently listed as the soft opening hours, so keep an eye out for any updates to Bayt Al-Qahwah’s hours of operation. Bayt Al-Qahwah also has open job applications, which can be viewed on its Instagram profile.
