College interns experience many challenges when it comes to making the most of their professional development, like living in a new city, missing the college environment and building new relationships. Working eight or more hours a day isn’t the easiest, either.
That’s why Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) is hosting FuelAL, a free event series designed to help summer interns across the state plug into The Magic City’s culture, opportunities and attractions.
Read on for details and how to apply by May 31.
Impacting college interns + Birmingham

BBA’s FuelAL is a free statewide internship program designed to help summer interns connect with Alabama’s industries, communities and fellow young professionals.
Hosted by the BBA, in partnership with the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) and Innovate Alabama, the program encourages students to consider Alabama as the ideal place to grow their careers through:
- Professional development
- Mentorship
- Networking + fun social activities
- Community engagement
Employers can also experience challenges when it comes to providing new, young talent with fun and impactful experiences.
“If we want to keep emerging talent here after graduation, we need to start making meaningful connections with them today. Birmingham is the perfect place to make a difference while making a living and this program is an excellent opportunity for a summer intern to experience that Birmingham Has More.”
Trevor Sutton, Vice President of Economic Development, Birmingham Business Alliance
