Get ready to see some new color around Birmingham’s Parkside District—and by “some,” we actually mean a whole lot.

A first-of-its-kind in Alabama, Yonder Walls Mural Festival is unveiling 30+ new murals in Birmingham on October 17, 2026. The murals will be in progress the week leading up to the festival, ending in a huge block-party style celebration where you can meet the artists, enjoy live music and shop from local vendors and food trucks.

When + where you can find the Yonder Walls murals

The stark white walls and blank brick facades of two blocks along 1st Avenue South between 12th and 14th Street South will soon be transformed with vibrant colors, expressing the unique style of all 44 participating artists.

The murals will be in progress October 10–16 around Urban Supply, THRIVE Coworking, Fairway Social and Up-Down, with final touches and the big reveal happening at Yonder Walls Mural Festival on Saturday, October 17.

Celebrating 30+ new murals is exciting on its own, but there’s much more on the agenda for Yonder Walls. A full day of fun is in store for the folks making their way over yonder for the festival.

While Yonder Walls Mural Festival aims to be a day of fun for the community, it doubles as a public art movement, a platform for the South’s diverse voices and a display of the Magic City’s love of art.

As you explore the festival, you can feel good about all the fun you’re having because it supports a worthy cause. Yonder Walls hold a unique philosophy and goal: compensating all participating artists and providing mentorship for young artists who are looking to get their foot in the door of the muraling business.

For the founders of Yonder Walls, those goals that hit close to home, as they have first-hand experience with the barriers they are now working to break down.

Yonder Walls is a nonprofit with a long term mission of providing year-round educational opportunities for artists in the south and they hope to make Yonder Walls Mural Festival one of the largest, highest-paying opportunities for muralists in the country.
