Of the 12 new building permits issued this past week in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million, six are for projects in the Birmingham metro area.

Of these, the most expensive project is a $30 million permit for Consolidated Pipe & Supply’s new headquarters. Here’s what’s up:

A $30 million building permit was issued last week for a new headquarters for Birmingham’s Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. Rives Construction is listed as the lead contractor.

Here are some details on the project:

The site includes 28 acres located at 705 Tom Martin Drive and 801 Lakeshore Parkway.
The new headquarters will include a corporate office, sales office and distribution center.
Once the new headquarters is built, it will make room to add another 20 new jobs.
The relocation is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2028.
