Yo’ Mama’s restaurant opens new location + 4 more businesses coming to the Birmingham area

Happy new year, Birmingham!
With a brand new year comes a slew of businesses coming to The Magic City. From a new Mexican restaurant in Lakeview to a 24-hour golf simulator in Trussville, read on for what’s new, coming soon and closed in town.

1. Yo Mama’s Restaurant | Downtown Birmingham
Popular local restaurant Yo’ Mama’s has officially moved into its new location in downtown Birmingham on Monday, January 6. For over a decade, the award-winning restaurant has been located on the corner of 24th Street N and 2nd Ave N, near spots like Frothy Monkey, Neon Moon and Bocca Ristorante.
Located at 2024 4th Ave. N, the new Yo’ Mama’s will have room for between 80-100 patrons—a welcome departure from the 2nd Ave. N location, which only sat up to 36 people.

2. El Royale Café | Lakeview
A new Mexican restaurant is coming soon to the Lakeview District. Dubbed El Royale Café, the restaurant is the newest venture of Miller Mobley, who also owns Slim’s Pizzeria in Crestline.
Located in the former home of Carrigan’s Beer Garden, El Royale is inspired by authentic classic Mexican cafes in California and Texas and is scheduled to open this Spring.

3. Midway Diner | Bessemer
Bessemer is getting a delicious new addition—Midway Diner, a classic meat and three restaurant, is set to open this January. The new spot specializes in Southern favorites like mac n’ cheese, cornbread and country-fried steak.

5. The Golffice | Trussville
The Golffice, a popular 24-hour indoor golf simulator, is opening its second Birmingham-area location in Trussville this week.
For $35 an hour, you can rent a room that fits up to eight people for up to four hours. Guests can bring their own food, drinks and even alcohol to enjoy while practicing their swing.

Closing
6. Marty’s PM | Five Points South
Beloved late-night spot Marty’s PM will soon close its doors after 31 years in Five Points South.
Located at 1813 10th Ct S near the Birmingham Public Library Southside Branch, Marty’s PM has been a staple of Five Points South for over three decades. The bar, grill and music club was founded in 1993 by Marty Eagle, who ran the establishment until his death in 2013.
