Native American Heritage Month is observed every November, but our friends in Atmore, Alabama encourage us to celebrate the impact of Native Americans all year.

The Poarch Creek Indians have dedicated their lives to the education and empowerment of their Tribe, and we can do the same.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in the PCI world in 2025, and how we can support this Alabama Tribe.

Things to plan for

1. Poarch Creek Perdido Farms’ new meat processing facility

Poarch Creek’s Perdido River Farms is a beautiful, 2,900-acre farm that builds on the Tribe’s rich history of working with the land and sharing with neighbors.

Coming to Perdido Farms in 2025 is a brand-new meat processing facility. This facility gives the Tribe an opportunity to offer great quality beef to South Alabama.

This $15 million state-of-the-art facility will be approximately 23,000 square feet, with a retail storefront dedicated to both consumer and wholesale customers.

Plus, the facility will create around 15 new full-time positions for Escambia County, Alabama.

2. Mardi Gras Parade at OWA Parks & Resort

OWA Parks & Resort is a hub of entertainment for people of all ages—especially during holidays.

This Mardi Gras, you can celebrate in style with decked-out floats, masks, beads and more in Downtown OWA.
