A James Beard award-winning chef from Alabama is opening his second restaurant, Bayonet. After the success of his first Birmingham restaurant, Helen, Chef Rob McDaniel and his wife, Emily are bringing fresh takes on Southern flavors with bold new ideas right next door.

Building on the success of his first venture, Helen, Bayonet will offer a bold mix of Southern classics with unexpected twists. The menu features fresh seafood including oysters. Opening in 2025, this is a can’t-miss restaurant for the new year.

Bayonet will feature a sleek, modern design, a commitment to quality ingredients,  innovative dishes, a welcoming atmosphere and an unforgettable dining experience.

Rob McDaniel, a multiple-time James Beard Best Chef semifinalist for his acclaimed work at SpringHouse on Lake Martin and Helen on 2nd, brings his award-winning culinary talent to Bayonet.

The James Beard Awards were established in 1990 by the James Beard Foundation to “recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields and further the foundation’s mission to celebrate, nurture and honor chefs and other leaders making America’s food culture more delicious, diverse and sustainable for everyone.”

Together with his wife Emily, Rob is set to redefine the dining scene with a new restaurant that builds on years of culinary excellence and creative flair.
