The Hispanic and Immigrant Center of Alabama (¡HICA!) is hosting its 21st annual Tamale Sale right here in Birmingham.

Since its founding in Birmingham in 1999, ¡HICA!’s dynamic community development and advocacy organization has been dedicated to helping Latino families adapt and integrate across Alabama.

Their annual Tamale Sale fundraiser has been a driving force in helping tens of thousands of Latino and immigrant families over the last two decades.

The sale not only unites the community through the shared tradition of tamale-making, but also helps financially support ¡HICA!’s mission to empower Latinos in need.

In Latino cultures, the tradition of preparing and sharing tamales at Christmas has been cherished for centuries.

Since 2003, ¡HICA! has worked to bring this rich tradition—filled with stories, togetherness and love—to the Birmingham community.

This year’s Tamale Sale starts on Friday, November 29 and ends on Sunday, December 15.
