Four of the 12 new building permits issued this past week across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million are in the Birmingham metro.

One permit in particular that has been much-awaited in Shelby County is for a new Fairfield & TownPlace Suites hotel in Alabaster.

High-dollar building permit in Alabaster

Alabaster has experienced tremendous growth in the last decade, and to accommodate that growth, more retail and lodging options have been desperately needed.

Over the summer, City officials in Alabaster approved the proposal for the hotel, located at 1005 Balmoral Drive.

Here are some more details about the new Fairfield & TownPlace Suites:

The 77,00-square-foot hotel will have about 130 rooms.
It will be located near the Promenade shopping center.
The project is expected to be complete by the fall of 2025.
Shree Akshar Inc. is the lead contractor on this project.
