MELT—the pioneering Birmingham restaurant that began as a food truck in 2012—is closing its Lane Parke location in Mountain Brook to concentrate on franchising and its new event space at Pepper Place.

The popular eatery relocated from Avondale to Mountain Brook Village in January 2023. Now, the Lane Parke location is closing on October 26.

Below is the note MELT posted on Instagram about the decision.

To our dear friends and loyal guests,

It is with mixed emotions and very heavy hearts we announce that Melt Lane Parke will be closing. Our last date of service will be October 26, 2024.

We are beyond grateful to have been operating Melt since June of 2014 but after 10 years, we have decided to move away from the day-to-day operations and focus on franchising and our event space in Pepper Place, The Sage.

It is truly serendipitous (which has been our favorite word since our days on the food truck) one of our Lane Parke neighbors has been seeking additional space and will be taking over the Melt building to launch an exciting new restaurant concept this spring.

As we prepare for our last month of service, we want to express our gratitude for the loyalty and love you have shown us over the years. Many of you have gone from customers to dear friends. We could not have done any of this without your unwavering support.

We also want to express our most sincere gratitude to our staff, many who have been with us since our first days, those who we also consider to be family and the ones who stuck with us during the turbulent times of covid. We could never have made it without these tremendous people. So, as we prepare to close this chapter, we hope to see your smiling faces so we can thank you for being a part of our lives over the years.

And you can always visit our other locations in Hoover, Huntsville and Auburn after we close!

With love,

MELT Lane Parke Family

In July 2024, the co-owners of MELT—Paget Pizitz and Harriet Reis—opened The Sage. This new event venue is located in the historic Architectural Heritage building at 200 28th Street South near Ovenbird and Billy Reid

They have also opened two MELT locations in Auburn and Huntsville over the past couple of years.

If you still need your MELT fix, the Hoover location is staying put.
