Founded by the team behind Bistro 218 and Bocca Ristoriante, Sloan’s is a new establishment where both discerning bourbon connoisseurs and casual drinkers can explore the rich world of bourbon in a refined, welcoming atmosphere inspired by dark academia aesthetics.

Located in downtown Birmingham at 2308 2nd Ave N, Sloan’s features a large bourbon library, ranging from well-known brands like Old Forester and Woodford Reserve to rare and allocated tastings like Blanton’s Gold and Old Fitzgerald.

In addition to neat tastings, Sloan’s drink options include select spirits, wines and a rich menu of signature and bourbon cocktails, such as:

  • Brown Derby — Bourbon, grapefruit and honey
  • Horse Whip — Bourbon, orange juice and bitters with maple foam and cinnamon
  • Empty Saddle — Bourbon, butter, honey and apple bitters

Sloan’s will also offer a short & sweet small-plate menu—think charcuterie, pâté, caviar and other dishes designed to elevate the bourbon experience.

“Each night, guests leave our restaurant wondering where they can go for an elegant drink experience. We wanted to create a comfy, cozy and welcoming space for that audience.”

Inside, the decor is a mix of new and old, with many of the antiques sourced from local spots like Irondale Pickers and the newly opened Crestwood Pickers. The decor is inspired by dark academia aesthetics, with exposed brick elements and deep blue accents throughout the establishment.

“We have a fantastic team at both Bistro 218 and Bocca Ristorante, and they have worked extremely hard to build their knowledge and to build trust with our clientele. We’re extremely proud of our wonderful team, and can’t wait to show off their hard work to the public.”
