Great news for all animal lovers of Birmingham!

A whopping 44 pets were adopted at the most recent “Clear the Shelter” event hosted by the Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) on August 24.

Read on to learn more about the impact of this community partnership and check out some of the pups that found their forever homes.

Why adopt?

Adoption is a fantastic way to help the community and local shelters by reducing homeless animals and easing shelter overcrowding. When people adopt, they help create space for more animals in need, allowing shelters to care for and rescue more pets.

In partnership with WVTM and BMW of Birmingham, GBHS was able to provide homes for so many animals needing safe and loving homes.

“Community partnerships like the ones we have with WVTM and BMW of Birmingham are crucial—they help us amplify our mission and extend our reach, making it possible for more people to open their hearts and homes to these deserving animals.

Adoption is vital because it gives animals in our community a second chance at life and brings endless joy to their new families. Together, we’re building a more compassionate and connected community.”

Stephanie Salavago, Director of Development & Marketing, Greater Birmingham Humane Society
