7 new + coming soon businesses in Birmingham, including a familiar name with a new look

There’s all kinds of buzz about what’s new in The Magic City, and we’re here to give you all the details.

From a new local catering service to an exciting boba bar, here’s what’s new in Birmingham and some stuff to look forward to later this year. Plus, join us in saying goodbye to a beloved family-owned business.

1. Feast Catering & Culinary Kitchen | Crestline Village

Back in June, Bham Now reported the opening of Feast Catering and Culinary Kitchen from popular Birmingham Chef Lindsey Noto-King and Croux CEO Brett Ables. 

Their brick-and-mortar in Mountain Brook is now open and serving corporate boxed lunch deliveries, private in-home dinners and catering.

2. Vocelli Pizza | UAB

Vocelli Pizza has opened its newest location just steps away from the UAB campus. Founded by Turkish immigrant Varol Ablak, Vocelli offers a variety of pizza pies, stromboli, sandwiches and salads.

3. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria | Hoover

Another pizzeria has popped up in Birmingham this week—Grimaldi’s Pizzeria at Stadium Trace Village is now open for business!

Located across from Cajun Roux and Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux, the menu features traditional Brooklyn-style coal-fired pizza, antipasto and other Italian classics.

4. Homebase | Homewood

Homebase, a collection of rentable private offices by Liv Ventures is now open in the same building Bitty and Beau’s Coffee resides.

Monthly memberships include:

5. Lag’s Eatery | Avondale

Legendary local restaurant Lag’s Eatery is set to reopen this fall after the original Homewood location closed in 2009. Since its closure, longtime employees Eric Wallace and Justin Shubert have dreamed of reopening the iconic restaurant.

The menu will consist of breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night options—all classic, affordable dishes done right with no twists. Plus, Eric and Justin plan to offer a small menu of local beer, wine and cocktail options in the near future.

6. Bronco’s Tex-Mex | Lakeview

Looking for a taste of Tex Mex in The Magic City? If so, you’re in luck—a new restaurant specializing in authentic Tex-Mex cuisine is coming to Birmingham in early 2025.

Dubbed Bronco’s Tex Mex, Birmingham’s newest upcoming restaurant promises a wide selection of dishes crafted using fresh ingredients and authentic recipes like table-side guacamole, homemade tortillas and mole enchiladas.

7. Leafly Boba Bar | Urban Supply

Leafly Boba Bar, a Huntsville-based boba café, announced that it will be opening a second location in the highly-anticipated new Urban Supply redevelopment in Parkside.

Owned by Huy Vu, Minh Vu and Keoni Evans, this boba bar will feature both traditional bubble tea options and specialty flavors.

8. Greenhouse | UAB + Homewood

In a recent post on Instagram, Greenhouse announced it will be closing its Homewood and downtown Birmingham locations.

According to the post, the family-owned business is selling its two restaurants to focus on their children.
