Marshalls, one of the largest off-price family apparel and home goods department stores in the U.S., is opening a new location in Birmingham on Highway 280.

Bham Now first reported about Marshalls’ plans to locate on the busy corridor back in December 2023. According to 280 Living, the new store now expects to open on August 29th.

Marshalls move into former Staples

“Bringing Marshalls to River Ridge is an exciting development for the Birmingham community. This addition not only diversifies the retail options available to our residents but also enhances the shopping experience along Highway 280.

We believe that Marshalls will be a significant draw for shoppers, providing them with quality products at great prices and contributing to the continued growth and vibrancy of this area.”

Erik Schatz, Leasing Manager, Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors

Marshalls will replace the old River Ridge Shopping Plaza Staples location at 4606 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242.

In the coming months, Academy Sports + Outdoors is expected to open next door.

Changes along Highway 280

If you live near Highway 280 or visit regularly, you’ve likely noticed a lot of changes in 2024.

In addition to the new Marshalls and Academy Sports, last month we reported the community would be losing the Fresh Market grocery store.
