United Ability has done it again!

Today, United Ability, a non-profit serving people with disabilities, has announced the franchising of their Gone For Good business.

What does that mean? For-profit businesses can buy a Gone For Good franchise from the newly formed Gone For Good, LLC. This in turn will benefit United Ability and create hundreds of jobs for people with disabilities.

Think—What Bitty and Beau’s does for coffee, United Ability’s program will do the same for document destruction and e-waste!

United Ability started the Gone For Good program in 2006.

Today, over 50% of the Gone For Good Birmingham employees have a disability.

“We are excited to announce the launch of franchising for our Gone For Good paper shredding and electronic waste recycling business. We decided to franchise so that we could spread the employment of adults with disabilities throughout the United States and the world.

In addition to all of the wonderful services disabled employees provide, a potential franchisee can support them while possible having a very sound investment with this business.

Here are some of the services Gone For Good offers:

  • AAA NAID Certified providing the highest level of security
  • Confidential document shredding and hard-drive destruction
  • E-waste recycling

What initially began as a stepping stone toward employment for disabled adults has become a successful business that focuses its efforts on investing back into United Ability.

Beloved employee Ced “Big Ced” Scott has been working with Gone For Good for over 16 years and has enjoyed every moment with the company.

“When I worked 16 years ago at other jobs, I was getting a paycheck, but when I bring the documents back to the facility, I know I am changing lives and making a difference. When you are part of something like this, it makes you feel good. It’s like a family here. I love coming to work. I am always smiling.”
