NEW: Bessemer’s Morgan Road Winn-Dixie to become an ALDI

We’d been hearing for a while that the recently-renovated Morgan Road Winn-Dixie in Bessemer was slated to become an ALDI, and we’ve now got official confirmation that this is happening. Keep reading for all the details.

Since ALDI purchased Southeastern Grocers, the owners of Winn-Dixie, we’ve been wondering which stores will be converted to ALDIs.
We got confirmation about the Pinson and Northport stores, and finally verified the rumors we’d been hearing about the one on Morgan Road.
“We can confirm the Winn-Dixie located at 2910 Morgan Rd, Suite 128,

Bessemer, AL 35022 will be closed for renovations in mid-August. The store will reopen to the community as an ALDI over the next several months.”
Why the change
The spokesperson explained that some stores are being converted to better serve the communities around them.
“Customers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible prices. Our smaller stores are stocked with only the items customers need so they can get in and out, and our award-winning exclusive brands help shoppers save up to 40% on their groceries without sacrificing quality.”

Anyone who’s been in the Morgan Road store will wonder what’s going to happen to the entire space, because it is quite large.

ALDI employees have the opportunity to apply or transfer:
“Associates at this location have the opportunity to be the first to apply to newly converted ALDI stores. In addition, ALDI is committed to doing its best to minimize the impact and provide support and opportunities to associates at converting stores, including the option to remain with Winn-Dixie and transfer to a neighboring store.”
