The $7.6 million building permit for the new Fire Station No. 2 in Mountain Brook was issued last week, just in time for the city to break ground on the project Monday.
Here’s what we know about this project:
- The new station is located on Overton Road, just down the road from the current station no. 2.
- Construction is already underway at the new location.
- The station will be finished in about 18 months.
- City officials said the former station no. 2 will be torn down and used as an extension of Overton Park.
- The new facility will also house an additional truck.
Stone Building Co. is listed as the lead contractor on this project.
