NEW: Upscale Tex-Mex restaurant opening in English Village on May 13

Frida’s Cocina & Cantina, a new upscale Tex-Mex restaurant is opening in Mountain Brook’s English Village on May 13th.

The new eatery, which is owned by Maribel Perez and Miguel Huerta, will feature traditional Tex-Mex dishes and Mexican cuisine.

Frida’s: Authentic Mexican cuisine

“Frida’s will provide delicious takes on authentic Mexican food. All our food is made from scratch with fresh ingredients, including our tortillas which we plan to make on site.”

The menu will feature:  

  • Fajitas
  • Enchiladas, 
  • Quesadillas
  • Tacos
  • Shrimp ceviche
  • Traditional carnitas dishes
  • Parrillada (a Central and South American barbecue dish)

The restaurant’s cuisine and atmosphere will reflect its namesake, Mexican painter and icon Frida Kahlo.

Open seven days a week

Located at the former Civitas location on the corner of Cahaba Road and Fairway Drive (2031 Cahaba Rd, Mountain Brook, AL 35213), Frida’s Cocina & Cantina will operate:

In addition to Frida’s mid-May debut, KH Management, the company that manages the English Village property, says a second restaurant called Curry Corner is opening in June. Bham Now broke the news about the Indian restaurant’s upcoming arrival in March 2024.
