Did you know that Food & Wine magazine named Salem’s Diner as the best diner in Alabama? Here is how the national publication described this special place in Homewood.

“It isn’t so much a place for breakfast or lunch as it is Cheers-with-a-menu, thanks to the presence of owner Wayne Salem, son of football-playing, Bama legend Ed Salem.

Whether you’ve been coming here for years or this is your first time in the door, you’ll feel at home, and you will eat well.”

Rojo – 95

It is hard to believe Rojo, the neighborhood restaurant on Highland Avenue, turns 22 years old on June 15.

More than a restaurant, Rojo supports local causes, including initiatives to grow native plants throughout the neighborhood. In addition, they host a 10% night nearly every Tuesday evening, which raises around $25,000 each year for local nonprofits.

Plus—their American/Latin cuisine rocks!
