The Birmingham Bulls have never won a regular-season championship in its off-and-on 48-year history.

The long drought has ended.

Thanks to 38 wins and only 9 losses, the Bulls were crowned Southern Professional Hockey League Champions (SPHL) last week. They are now the proud owners of the 2024 William Coffey Trophy.

As champs, the Bulls enter the SPHL President’s Cup Playoffs as the top seed. Their reward? Home ice advantage for the duration of the 3-round tournament.

Playoff hockey is coming to Pelham

The first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-three series beginning at the Pelham Civic Center on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00PM.

The Bulls take on the lowest SPHL seed, Evansville Thunderbolts for Round 1.

Game 2 will be played in Evansville, Indiana on April 11, while the final game of the series, if needed, will be played in Pelham on Saturday, April 13.

If you haven’t had a chance to cheer on the Bulls this season, now is your chance. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

In the meantime, someone needs to find a ladder at the Pelham Civic Center, so we can hang a new SPHL championship banner from the rafters!
