NEW: Harmonic at WorkPlay celebrates grand opening in Birmingham, April 4 at 5PM

Get ready to raise your glass, Birmingham. The city’s newest bar, Harmonic at WorkPlay, hosts its grand opening today, April 4 at 5PM.

New at WorkPlay in Birmingham

Back in November 2023, we filled you in on some big changes taking place at WorkPlay located on 23rd Street in Birmingham’s Southside.

One of the biggest being new owners consisting of experienced musicians, promoters, sound engineers, businessmen and more, including: 

• Johnny Grimes
• Colby Mouchette
• Shane Hopson
• Ben Jackson
• Josh Williams

The group purchased the mixed-use event venue from brothers Tom Williams Jr. and Clark Williams who ran the business for 13 years.

The new owner’s vision and plans for the venue? To build upon WorkPlay’s legacy and take the venue into the future with a comprehensive modernization project throughout the entire facility.

Renovations included:

• Making over the main theater’s interior by reupholstering + replacing seats, adjusting the light + PA systems + more.
• Remodeling WorkPlay’s 15 offices with finished concrete floors, freshly painted walls + more.
• Building a second bar in the rear of the building for weddings, corporate parties + other events hosted in the SoundStage.
• Constructing a new outdoor patio area, complete with furniture + string lighting.

Another huge renovation planned was a complete transformation of the main bar—now named Harmonic at WorkPlay.

Triple the size of the venue’s original bar, Harmonic at WorkPlay provides a vibrant and modern space, perfect for relaxing, socializing and indulging in pre-show libations.

It will also be open throughout the week—regardless of whether or not there is a live show.
