New industrial development coming soon to Northside Birmingham
Reading time: 2 minutes
In the early hours of the morning on Monday, January 29, construction workers from River Brook Design & Construction began pouring the concrete foundation for a new industrial building in the Evergreen neighborhood on Birmingham’s Northside. Bham Now met with River Brook’s owner Kevin Misso to learn more.
New industrial development in Evergreen
Dubbed Uptown Industrial Park, the new development is an upcoming industrial park that will be developed in two phases. Phase I, currently under development, is a 16,000-square-foot building located at 2300 24th St. N. Once Phase I is occupied, River Brook Design & Construction will begin the 38,5000-square-foot Phase II building.
According to River Brook owner and project manager Kevin Misso, Uptown Industrial Park aims to meet the demand for industrial space in Birmingham’s Northside.
“When you look at existing industrial buildings in Norwood area, there are a lot of older spaces needing updates with low ceiling heights. There isn’t a lot of new construction in the area, and certainly not many with 20+ foot ceilings. The area has a shortage of industrial space that meets that criteria. We are building 20+ foot ceiling heights with a combination of dock high and drive-in bays and more. We’re starting new construction to meet that industrial need.”

Once Phase I is complete, Kevin hopes that the industrial tenants could create an additional 20-30 jobs in the area.
“The concrete, fencing, steel and other materials for the project have been purchased from local vendors, and whichever business operates out of this building will be generating new tax revenue in the area. This is a 16,000 square-foot building available in May 2024 for a new business to call home. We’re hoping to bring new jobs and businesses to this area of town.”

The new development is located just a few blocks away from the Carraway Hospital site, which is currently being demolished to make way for a new $50M, 9,000-seat open-air amphitheater.
