The idea for Herban Soul Café was conceived by Alexis Kimbrough while working at a health food store in Birmingham. While discovering her passion for herbal tea, Alexis found that Birmingham lacked a brick-and-mortar herbal tea café. To make matters worse, local coffee shops only offered limited herbal tea flavors.

“Opening Herban Soul Café in Woodlawn is a really big deal for me. I have always loved tea in general, but as I delved deeper into herbal tea, I wanted to make it my mission to open a brick-and-mortar café in Birmingham. We’re in a great location in Woodlawn, which is right off the interstate and close to the airport. Whether people are native to Birmingham or just traveling through, Herban Soul Café is a place where they can try a new, healthy type of tea.”

At Herban Soul Café, Alexis will offer a wide variety of healthy food and beverage options, including a dozen different herbal tea blends as well as sweet pastries. Alexis spilled the tea on some of her favorite herbal tea blends in an interview with Bham Now last year.

“I specifically formulated these blends with wellness in mind. They are an easy way to get extra water, vitamins and nutrients into your diet, and although they all can be drank for pleasure, they were all formulated to aid anyone along their health and wellness journey. My personal favorites are the ‘Such a Lady‘ blend and the ‘Immune-I-Tea‘ blend, but my customers really love the ‘5 Heart Beat‘ and ‘Spice & Everything Nice‘ blends. I chose specific ingredients for each blend for health reasons, but you can still drink them for pleasure!”
