Nicole grew up in Vestavia Hills and began dancing at Jackie O’Neal School of Dance at just three years old. She continued her dance career during her school career as a member of the Girl’s Choir at Pizitz Middle School and a Rebelette at Vestavia Hills High School. She also connected with theater at a young age when she joined Red Mountain Theatre at nine years old.

Through her experience with Red Mountain Theatre and the people she met along the way, she realized she wanted to pursue a career in the arts.

Nicole’s professional credits include:

  • Off-Broadway: relapse
  • International/National Tour: SIX (Howard) and Junie B. Jones (Junie B.)
  • TV/Film: The First Lady, Legacies and Son of the South

“It’s an incredible way to see the country. It’s the North American tour, so we’re mostly in the US, but we will be in Toronto for a little bit coming up. We do eight shows a week and have a travel day.

As a swing, I rehearse during the show or I’ll watch from the wings. If somebody gets sick or injured or has a personal day, I’ll be swung in. Sometimes I do just one show a week or sometimes five. Each week is different, but it’s really fun. And the company has been incredible and everyone’s great and supportive.”

The Birmingham-native is looking forward to the show coming to town later this month and can’t wait for her friends and family to be able to enjoy the performance.

“I grew up doing shows with Red Mountain Theatre, but I never performed at the BJCC. I’m excited because I remember seeing Broadway series there as a kid, such as Wicked and The Lion King. It’s a surreal moment for my younger self. There are so many young artists that grow up in Birmingham, and I want to show them that they can do it too.”

It’s always exciting to see talented actors bring their unique touch to iconic roles in the world of theater—especially when they’re from the Magic City.
