Chris Hollaman leaving Munchies on 5th in Avondale
In March 2022, local entrepreneur Chris Hollaman and property owner Randy Shunnarah opened Munchies on 5th in the former Munchies Food Store along 41st Street in Avondale. The bar and grill was an instant hit, thanks to regular live music, watch parties for big events, great drinks and delicious food.
Although Chris has left the bar & grill, owner Randy Shunnarah is planning to continue running Munchies.
What’s next for Chris Hollaman?
Over the past few months, Chris and his team have been working on a new restaurant concept in Birmingham’s Rising – West Princeton neighborhood. Dubbed Mama’ Nem Southern Kitchen, the upcoming restaurant will have a Rickwood Field-inspired theme and serve classic Southern food—and you already know it’s going to be good!
“The interior is going to pay homage to Rickwood Field and the Negro Leagues, with art and photos of players like Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth and more. We’re going to take the vibe from Munchies and bring it to Mama’ Nem Southern Kitchen, so anyone who liked what we were doing in Avondale is going to love what we’re doing near Rickwood Field.”
