In the past year, Momentum has made nearly 100 mentor matches and had over 1,800 women participate in their virtual trainings. Fun fact: 90% of the women utilizing these resources have never been through a Momentum leadership program.

One woman deeply impacted by Momentum is Akilah, a mother of two and a Lab Information System Coordinator at UAB.

Akilah hasn’t yet been through a Momentum leadership program, but she’s a regular attendee of the available monthly training sessions, which have had a meaningful impact on her life, both personally and professionally.

“What I like about Momentum is the connection. Watching videos can only do so much, but being able to actually ask questions and connect with the experts really makes a difference.

The Momentology Method training was right on time for me. It happened when there was a lot on my plate personally and helped me keep a positive mindset to push through that very challenging season.”

Studies show that successful mentoring relationships lead to greater success on all levels. Mentors can be life and career-changing, but it’s not always obvious how or where to find one.

That’s where Momentum comes in.

Over the years, Momentum has facilitated over a thousand mentor-mentee relationships in Alabama. Their mentors are some of the most distinguished professionals in the state, coming from industries ranging from manufacturing to healthcare, and a variety of roles, from CEO to scientist.

“My mentor has given me so much guidance and clarity, professionally and personally. She has been one of the most impactful people in my life. Going through this mentorship program has provided me with so much understanding of myself and my career.”

This year, Momentum has seen a record number of women accessing their cost-free community resources. If you haven’t participated yet, don’t worry—they’re planning to continue to offer these valuable tools and grow them even more in 2024.

“The webinars have had a positive impact on my journey to be able to move into a leadership position within my company. They also help me when I need to talk to my team in group settings. This has always been a problem for me and the last webinar on our inner voice really helped me understand ways to improve my huddles.”
