Left Hand Soap Company—a local small business in Pepper Place—announced its closing its storefront and transitioning to solely online sales. Here’s what we know.

Left Hand Soap made naturally in Alabama since 1999

Left Hand Soap Company owners announced the closure in a Facebook post, stating:

“For 25 years, we’ve known that running a small business is a challenge; and this year has proven to be the most challenging yet. I don’t need to describe the current small business climate to any of you, I’m sure. Supply chain struggles and steeply increasing ingredient costs have left us unable to consistently keep items available and in stock.

We pride ourselves in affordable, consistent products with high-quality ingredients. At the same time, the other irons Erik and I have in the fire are getting hot and breathing new life into our creative pursuits. This has been a year of transitions for us on all fronts, and this is a transition we welcome with open arms.”

The move to online sales officially began on December 11, 2023.

Left Hand Soap isn’t the only business moving to online operations. In November 2023, Club Duquette in Woodlawn announced its storefront closure.
