2 new multi-family projects coming to Birmingham area by 2026

Homewood-based real estate development firm The Dobbins Group has started construction on two new multi-family projects in the Birmingham area. Dubbed Colina West Homewood and Colina Hillside, the two projects are expected to be completed by Fall 2025 and Summer 2026 respectively and will bring nearly 800 new apartment units to the area.
Two new multi-family projects coming to the Birmingham area
Headquartered in Homewood, The Dobbins Group is a real estate development firm with a successful track record of properties throughout the Southeast, with several multi-family projects in Alabama, including:
- The Axel Row apartments in Avondale
- The Avenue A townhomes in Birmingham
- The Estelle apartments in Birmingham
- The AVIA apartments in Vestavia Hills
- The Easterwood apartments in Gardendale
- The Carondolet apartments in Mobile
Now, The Dobbins Group is looking to expand its footprint in the Greater Birmingham Area by constructing two new multi-family apartment complexes in the Birmingham area. To help with these projects, The Dobbins Group is working alongside several local architecture and construction companies, including:

- Forestry Environmental
- Capstone Building Corp.
Colina West Homewood — Coming Fall 2025
Located in Birmingham, Colina West Homewood will consist of 310 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment units in an array of two- and three-story buildings. Once complete, residents at Colina West Homewood will have access to a host of amenities, such as:
- A pool
- Coworking space
- A residential market
- A central green space
- A dog park and pet spa
- A clubhouse
- Outdoor kitchens with grilling stations
- And more
Colina West Homewood is expected to be complete by Fall 2025.
Colina Hillside — Coming Summer 2026
The Dobbins Group’s second project—Colina Hillside—will be located between I-459 and Highway 150 in unincorporated Jefferson County near Hoover, just down the road from The Grove Shopping Mall. This prime location will give residents convenient access to restaurants, retail and entertainment options in Hoover and beyond.
Once complete, Colina Hillside will consist of 475 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment units in a series of four- and five-story buildings. In addition, Colina Hillside will feature an array of private and public residential amenities, including:
- A fitness center
- Coworking spaces
- Two pools
- Outdoor kitchens with grilling stations
- Electric car charging spaces
- Pet parks
- And more
Colina Hillside is expected to be completed by Summer 2026.
