Downtown Birmingham will soon become home to a new Japanese restaurant, as reported by the Birmingham Business Journal. While we don’t yet know the name of this upcoming eatery, it will be located at The Frank on 20th St N.

The Frank is a mixed-use building that houses nearly 200 luxury apartment units as well as a retail space on the ground level. The upcoming restaurant will join Zaza, The UPS Store and Synovus as The Frank’s newest retail addition. According to the BBJ, the restaurant will also include an exclusive private courtyard patio.

As part of the city of Birmingham’s Second & 20th historic renovation project, you can expect several new restaurants and bars to begin popping up downtown. One of the newest is Ahki’s, a new Mediterranean street food spot that opened on 20th St N in September.

Another upcoming addition is Salud, a new late night bar and restaurant, expected to open early 2024. Located at the redeveloped Webb Building on the southwest corner of 2nd Ave N and 20th St N, Salud is the latest restaurant project from Jesus MendezVinh Tran and José Medina-Camacho—a trio of entrepreneurs that have opened several of The Magic City’s most popular bars and eateries, including:

  • Adiõs
  • Unos Tacos
  • The Louis Bar
  • Ono Poke
  • Honest Coffee
