Brookwood Baptist Medical Center celebrates grand opening of new Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Brookwood Baptist Medical Center recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest addition, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The hospital commemorated the project with a ribbon-cutting on November 16—keep reading for how this “cath lab” will serve the Birmingham area.

What does a “cath lab” do?

The new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, or “cath lab”, is a specialized area where doctors perform minimally invasive tests and cardiac procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. Some of the services they provide include:

  • Cardiovascular imaging
  • Cardiac rehabilitation
  • Heart failure program
  • Women’s heart services

$3.6 Million renovation project

The 1,700-square-foot. project, a $3.6 Million renovation, is now actively treating patients. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO Jeremy Clark expressed excitement for the new lab.
