The beginning of The Heavenly Donut Company

Owners Brock and Kimberly Beiersdoerfer shared a dream of owning their own business. Using their love for people (and donuts) they began looking for ways to bring their dream to life.

Mentoring from Vestavia Hills’ Dave Upton Sr. led Brock and Kimberly to Gibson’s Donuts in Memphis, Tenn. The owner, Don DeWeese, invited Brock into his kitchen and showed him the needed equipment plus which ingredients were best.

Here’s the fun part—this 20-year donut veteran from Memphis came to Birmingham to train the cooks at The Heavenly Donut Company. A full-circle moment if we ever saw one!

The shop officially opened on January 23, 2013, and the rest is history.

When we visited the Heavenly shop, the lobby was all decked out in fall decor and seasonal treats, but we got a sneak peek at the winter holiday-themed donuts that the team is already gearing up to serve.

Some of our favorite donuts we tried were:
