The beloved Yellowhammer Creative in Pepper Place announced that they are stopping all retail operations by the end of this year. Keep reading for what we know.

15 years of Yellowhammer Creative

Today, October 27, founders Brandon Watkins and Brett Forsyth announced in an Instagram post that they were closing after 15 years in business.

“A lot has changed over the last 15 years and YHC has tried its hand at numerous creative endeavours. Some worked and some didn’t, but the whole time we followed our heart and the road map in our brain to build what we think is a company worth being proud of.

The result has been a somewhat chaotic and scrappy existence but we’ve enjoyed every second of it.”

At the end of the year, the shop will cease all retail operations and close the doors to their Pepper Place store.

As a frequent shopper of Yellowhammer Creative and a proud owner of at least six prints, I’m just as saddened by the news of this closing as the next person. But, according to their positive words used in the announcement post, there is more to come from these talented and creative minds.

The future of Yellowhammer Creative

After thanking their amazing crew and expressing that they are “not getting any younger,” the founders alluded to something different to come of the business.

“Brandon and I will be returning to our roots and focus our efforts on design services and flatstock printing as we explore other opportunities. While it might be the end of an era, it’s not the end of the bird.”
