Coffee in Avondale

Avondale is one of Bham’s coffee hotspots. With unique drinks and top-notch vibes, you’ll definitely find some spots to add to your “fave coffee shops in Bham” list (we know you have one).

1. Domestique Coffee

Domestique Coffee, located in Saturn, has its own personality, just like the surrounding Avondale area. Since it’s open until late in the afternoon each day, it’s a great spot to go relax with friends or finish up some work. Plus, the space-inspired theme makes for some great photo ops.

2. Punch Love Coffee

Located at MAKEbhm, Punch Love Coffee has been an Avondale favorite since its opening in 2020. Keep an eye out for their seasonal specials with fun, creative names.

3. Saw’s Soul Kitchen

Find some of the best barbecue in town on 41st Street South in Avondale. Soul food and incredible barbecue is their specialty, and they were even named the best place to get fried chicken in Alabama in 2021.

4. Taco Morro Loco

From food truck to brick-and-mortar restaurant, Taco Morro Loco is one of the most popular taco stops in town. You can’t go wrong with any of their tacos—or margaritas, for that matter.

5. Post Office Pies

This Avondale eatery offers wood-fired pizzas and local craft beers in a unique atmosphere—an old post office!

6. Avondale Common House

Avondale Common House serves, burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of creative appetizers in the heart of Avondale. Stop in on Sundays for brunch, too!

7. The Goose

The Goose opened in Avondale in 2022 and has been a hit ever since. Open seven days a week, it’s always a great option for local beers, great food—and even lawn games!

8. Munchies on 5th

Located just across the street from Avondale Park, Munchies on 5th is another newcomer to the area. However, the restaurant has been making a name for itself with its wings, burgers, wraps and more.

9. Big Spoon Creamery

If you’re in the mood for dessert after all those good eats, Big Spoon Creamery has you covered with ice cream cones, bowls, sandwiches, sundaes and more. Their creative flavors will keep you coming back, and they’re open until 9 and 10PM for all your late-night ice cream cravings.

Avondale is home to some of the biggest breweries and bars in the city, so make sure to plan your bar crawl accordingly.

10. Avondale Brewing Company

Avondale Brewing Company is a brewery, a music venue and a great place to relax while sipping locally brewed beers. With its great atmosphere and fantastic community events, Avondale Brewing Company has become a hub for the area. And of course, you can’t forget about their amazing craft beers.

11. Saturn

Saturn makes two appearances on this list! This place has it all—go for coffee in the mornings and return to a fun venue at night. It’s a unique place to grab a drink with friends or spend time on their outdoor patio.

12. Mom’s Basement

Mom’s Basement has the aura of a decked-out retro basement, complete with pinball machines, darts and a photobooth. Plus, everything they serve is canned, which adds to the experience.

13. 41st Street Pub & Aircraft Sales

Looking for a night of fantastic cocktails and maybe even some shuffleboard or trivia? You should give 41st a try! Located next door to Saturn, 41st Street Pub & Aircraft Sales is a neighborhood bar you don’t want to skip.

14. Ferus Artisan Ales

Ferus Artisan Ales began in Trussville in 2019 and expanded to Avondale in 2021. Located across from Avondale Park, Ferus boasts great beers, food and live music!

This beautiful park is smack-dab in the middle of the Avondale neighborhood. With 40 acres of wooded park, amazing trails and even a few baseball diamonds, you’ll have plenty to explore. This historic park also hosts an array of community events like movies and concerts for free!
