We’re back again with five new businesses in Birmingham, including a new bar in Avondale. No need to go on a wild goose chase for the hottest businesses—we have them all right at your fingertips.
1. Axe Downtown | Trussville
Ready to challenge your friends to some friendly competition? Check out Trussville’s newest opening—Axe Downtown—that is now open. If you’ve wondered how axe throwing *actually* works, they’ve got some insight for you. Pro tip: make sure you wear close-toed shoes for this activity.
Located right in the heart of the Trussville Entertainment District, this new spot is in walkable distance to some of Trussville’s hottest businesses like Ferus Ales, Mexicali Blues and the soon-to-open Trussville Social. Hit them up for the perfect birthday party, bachelor trip or date night—the possibilities are endless!
2. QuikTrip | Calera
A DFW and Atlanta favorite, QuikTrip, is opening its second Alabama location on I-65 off of Exit 231 near Calera. QuikTrip is known for variety and cleanliness.
The great part about this specific location is that it’s specifically built for high-traffic areas. That means 20 pumps, 6 diesel bays and access to fresh food within the market. Residents and roadtrippers alike will reap the benefits of fresher food (made to order) on the go. Are you excited for this new travel center model?
3. The Goose | Avondale
There’s a new bar in town, just in time for summer patio sippin’. Meet The Goose. Located in the former Spring Street space, The Goose is a sports-centered bar that combines their love for good food, great drinks and outdoor fun. With plenty of outdoor seating, cornhole games and TVs, this will be a place that’s perfect for a post-work drink OR weekend beer.
4. Buck Creek Bed and Breakfast | Helena
Helena is welcoming Buck Creek Bed and Breakfast to the area. Led by Jordan Hosey, the youngest real estate developer in Alabama, this property is bringing a lot to the table. As a multi-unit short-term rental community. Buck Creek will be the perfect getaway for those looking to get some R&R. They’re partnering with all local businesses, such as a coffee shop, to add amenities to their guests’ stay—how perfect?
It’s estimated to open Spring 2023, so if you’re looking to plan a staycation next spring, they’ve got you covered.
“Buck Creek BnB was developed as a labor of love that flourished after the entrepreneurial success of six local business owners. What started out as an accident, developed into a strategic and collaborative project by the team who hold a background in both the real estate, finance, and hospitality industry. Together, the team and I concepted what you see as the first-ever boutique bed and breakfast build coming to Helena, Alabama just outside the metro city of Birmingham, Alabama.”-Jordan Hosey, Lead Developer, Buck Creek BNB
5. The Heights Fitness | Homewood
We’re taking “reaching for the heights” to a new level. Vestavia’s The Heights Fitness is opening a brand NEW location in downtown Homewood, and we’re so excited to welcome this strength-based boot camp. The Heights focuses on women’s group and personal training through using cardio equipment, machines, weights and core training.
In addition to fitness, they also offer nutrition coaching through weekly check-ins, digital food logs and personal nutrition coaches. They’re planning on opening the second week of July, so if you haven’t found a home gym, now’s the time.
