Popular seafood restaurant chain Shrimp Basket closed its Gardendale location on November 1, 2026.

The Birmingham-metro spot is one of five Alabama Shrimp Basket locations shuttered by Artistry Restaurants, the group that owns the popular seafood joints.

Located at 550 Fieldstown Road, the Gardendale restaurant reopened in 2022, nearly two years after it was shuttered due to the Covid pandemic.

Shrimp Basket to focus on coastal and beach locations

According to an Artistry Restaurants news release, the group is focusing on its restaurants that are located near the beaches and the coastline.

“While never an easy decision, it is our responsibility to the team and our guests to ensure the continued strength of the Shrimp Basket brand. Upon re-evaluation and reflection, we decided that our strength comes from our origins as a true coastal seafood restaurant and that returning to our roots as a brand, while directing our resources and future investments towards our beach and coastal locations, will best serve our teams and guests.”

Bryan Lockwood, CEO, Artistry Restaurants

The other four Alabama locations closing—except for the one in Bay Minette—are located inland. They are:

  • Bay Minette
  • Cullman
  • Tuscaloosa
  • Auburn

The four remaining Alabama locations staying open are in Foley, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Evergreen.
