Big news! The University of Montevallo (UM) recently moved its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program to a new location at the Shelby-Hoover Campus of Jefferson State Community College (JSCC). Keep reading to see what we know.

This relocation strengthens the University of Montevallo + Jefferson State partnership

This relocation on Valleydale Road will offer a convenient location for Greater Birmingham Area residents who prefer in-person learning rather than exclusively online options—as reported in a press release from UM.

“We’ve always wanted our offsite location to be convenient to commuters, and the partnership with Jeff State felt natural given our undergraduate partnership with them.”

Dr. Amiee Mellon, Stephens College of Business Dean, The University of Montevallo

In 2017, UM and Jeff State announced continuUM—a partnership that gives students a smoother transition from the community college to the four-year public university.

The formalized program offers Jeff State students guaranteed admission to UM and eligibility for scholarships after earning an associate’s degree or 45 transferable credit hours.

UM’s AACSB-accredited MBA program features online, blended and in-person methods for students. This program has been recognized as one of the best in the state, and the online college program has been praised as one of the best in the nation.

“The skills we instill in you are ones that are for the next level you’re trying to get to. Business is not about individual departments; it is about cross-collaboration. You might be taking a marketing course, but you’re still learning about financial and management aspects.”

Dr. Amiee Mellon, Stephens College of Business Dean, The University of Montevallo

In the release, Mellon continued to say that UM is looking to build the MBA program around leadership and decision-making concepts.

For example, someone with their undergraduate can become an entrepreneur, or someone can come back to school and prepare themselves for a promotion
