VIRAL: $6,000 wedding dress sold for $25 at Birmingham Goodwill
Wedding dress shopping? You may want to consider visiting a local thrift shop. In a new viral TikTok video, a Birmingham shopper hit the thrift store jackpot when she scored a $6,000 Galia Lahav wedding dress for a mere $25 at Goodwill on Greensprings Highway in Homewood. Read on for the scoop.
An epic purchase at Goodwill in Birmingham
Local Emmali Osterhoudt posted a video to Tiktok of her epic thrift store find—a Galia Lahav wedding dress that retails for $6,000. The unbelievable part? She snagged it for just $25 at Goodwill.
According to Emmali’s video, her and a friend randomly visited the Goodwill on Greensprings Highway in Birmingham to look for picture frames for a gallery wall. Little did she know she’d find the wedding gown of her dreams.
If you don’t know much about Galia Lahav, it’s an Internationally Acclaimed Bridal Fashion House by fashion designer Galia Lahav and established in Tel Aviv. The brand is primarily known for its bridal and evening wear and has been worn by big celebrity names like Beyonce and Paris Hilton.
“We are thrilled that a Birmingham customer found such an amazing find! I’ve seen the TikTok and the dress is truly a treasure and it looks like it was made for her.
Shopping at Goodwill is an experience every day because new items are put on the floor daily. In the news just this month, a $4 painting purchased at Goodwill is estimated to fetch as much as $250,000 at auction in September. Goodwill is a treasure trove of unique find, where the past meets present, and every item carries a story waiting to be discovered.”

Goodwill in Birmingham applauds the incredible find
Though Emmali isn’t engaged and doesn’t plan to get married anytime soon, she plans to set the dress aside for when that day comes. Who could blame her? Not only is the story of how she found the dress one that she can tell forever, but the dress is stunning.
In the video, Emmali states: “It fits me like a glove and doesn’t need any sort of alterations…” Talk about meant to be!
We’ll never know who donated such an amazing dress, but Emmali’s TikTok video included a message to them.
“I’d like to say thank you to the girl who donated it to Goodwill b/c it made my whole entire year. And little Emmali who has loved weddings since she was five is kicking and screaming b/c she’s so excited. Maybe in a few years, I’ll make a video actually wearing the dress.”
