About Chef Wayman Clayton
Chef Wayman Clayton has been in the food industry for most of his life, working with some of the best chefs in the industry.
Currently, you’ll find him creating incredible eats at Trussville Social where he’s been the executive chef since the biz opened in October 2022. Seriously, have you seen the menu? It is stacked with belly-satisfying options for lunch, dinner and all-day Sunday brunch like sandwiches, burgers and fries, seared salmon and charcuterie boards.
During my most recent visit to Trussville Social, I ordered the Strawberry Pecan Spinach Salad. The ingredients were so fresh, the strawberries nearly exploded in my mouth and I nearly forgot I ordered dressing. It is obvious Chef Clayton cooks with love.

Favorite Chef is a virtual competition open to culinary creators of all types. During the competition, chefs show off their best-plated presentations for the chance to gain public votes and be recognized by world-renowned culinary connoisseur Carla Hall.
The competition began back in June with the public eagerly casting its vote for the Top 20. Now, there are just five chefs left in the competition’s quarterfinals.
The winning chef will receive $25K and appear in a two-page advertorial in Taste of Home Magazine.
What does Chef Clayton plan to do with the winnings?
“I want to provide great food, that’s why I’m a chef. But, I also wanted to create a space where I can give back and teach those who don’t have the resources needed so they can find their love of cooking like I found mine.”
