CLOSED: Revelator Coffee’s downtown Birmingham location closes suddenly
Reading time: 2 minutes
Revelator Coffee has shut down their Birmingham location as of last Friday, June 23. The news comes from social media posts and a sign left on the door informing that the shop is now permanently closed.
About Revelator
According to their website, the company started in 2014 opening their first location in downtown Birmingham’s theater district. By 2015, they opened a roasting facility in Birmingham and began developing additional cafes across the Southeast.
In 2017, according to Eater, Revelator acquired the coffee chain Octane– which doubled them in size.
Previously named the 12th most popular coffee roaster in the U.S. by Far & Wide, their website now only lists two remaining locations– in New Orleans and on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College.
Closed permanently
According to AL.com, handwritten notes left on the shop’s doors indicated the company’s permanent closing and thanked regulars for their love and support.
The note reads “Closed forever. Employees given no warning or severance. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your support and service. – The Revelator Team”
While Revelator has not yet commented on the terms of the shop’s closing, we will continue to update on the situation.
