A local realtor is pursuing plans to construct a 4-story bed and breakfast near the Hoover Met, according to the Hoover Sun. The property is located across from Brock’s Gap Brewing Co. at the corner of Stadium Trace Parkway and Mineral Trace.

What to expect

The 2.4 acres of land was purchased by Jordan Masaeid-Hosey’s company HBH Realty. It will be an 18-suite vertical facility featuring a spa, breakfast café, and rooftop pool and bar.

Each suite will accommodate 6-10 guests, said Masaeid-Hosey. As she told the Hoover Sun, the property will be something in-between a hotel and Airbnb experience:

“It’s kind of like a hotel and Airbnb hybrid. This is an extremely upscale, luxury, high-end-looking property. We plan on creating an experience like Hoover has never seen before that is going to be an asset to the community. It’s very elegant. It’s very sexy. It’s very sleek.”

Lodging near the Hoover Met

The proposal comes as a result of a decision by the Hoover City Council to restrict short-term rental properties, limiting the use of Airbnb’s or Vrbo’s in single-family homes and neighborhoods. Short-term rentals are only allowed to operate in commercial areas or condos, reported WBRC.

As a result, there is a increased demand for short-term rentals in the Hoover area, particularly near the Hoover Met for visitors attending sporting events and tournaments.

For the most part, people attending those events are traveling in groups– meaning they would be required to book multiple hotel rooms for their stay. For those people, this new project will provide a place within walking distance to the Hoover Met that accommodates their whole family or group.

Expected to begin early 2024

While Masaeid-Hosey still needs conditional use approval from the Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission and Hoover City Council, said the Sun, construction is expected to begin early 2024 if all goes according to plan.

HBH Realty is also preparing to debut another similar bed and breakfast project, Buck Creek BnB in Helena, opening June 10.
