A historic area

McLaughlin
The McLaughlin House. (Ingram New Homes)

Believe it or not, this new elegant community actually has a whole lot of history.

The Maiden Heights community will be built on the historic McLaughlin estate—a large, historic manor overlooking the city built in 1907 by Birmingham resident George McLaughlin. The home was full of large cut stone with meticulously crafted arched doorways and gables.

The house was the only home on Maiden Lane, a small street off of Highland Avenue, with majestic views looking up to the mountain heights.

The McLaughlin home was later demolished, and Maiden Lane was renamed. The land remained undeveloped for many years. Today, the land is part of soon-to-be Maiden Heights, which preserves the historic character and views of the area.
