Whoβs a great fit for the Master of Health Administration?
Market trends reveal the need for health professionals passionate about the intersection of healthcare and business. UNA developed the Master of Health Administration to meet that market need.
This masterβs degree is open to all students, but Dr. Kyrel BuchananβDirector of the Healthcare Management Programβnotes the two main groups that find this degree beneficial:
βBecause the masterβs program is 100% online, itβs really attractive for working professionals. Some have been working for 15-20 years and are ready to go to the next level in their career or get into the administrative side of health care. Other students are recent graduates looking to get their masterβs degree.β

MHA Graduates may pursue careers in various work settings, such as hospitals, health systems, pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms, health policy organizations, tech companies and more.
How flexible is the program?
UNA created the Master of Health Administration to accommodate full-time health professionals, so flexibility is the programβs priority.
Contrasting traditional 16-week semesters, UNAβs MHA offers eight-week semesters.
βStudents can complete the coursework at their own pace. For example, when we launched in March, I posted all the assignments for the entire semester. I have some students working ahead because they are full-time health professionals and have other obligations.β

What are the career opportunities?
In Dr. Buchananβs experience, sheβs worked with health professionals who have years of experience but want to alter their career path. The Master of Health Administration helps them enact that change.
βSome professionals have worked over a decade as nurses before deciding they want to come off the floor and work in administration. Even if they have 15-20 years of experience, some organizations still require a masterβs degree. The Master of Health Administration allows them to keep working as a nurse while getting the degree to take their career to the next level.β
