6 of the best things we ate this February in Birmingham
Reading time: 4 minutes
If you’ve been around for long, you know we’re always on the hunt for the best eats in Birmingham. March starts tomorrow, so we’re back with the best things the Bham Now team ate this past month.
1. Seared diver scallops, Blueprint on 3rd
“This was my first time at Blueprint on 3rd and I could not have loved it more. The scallops were served over the best grits that I could have enjoyed a few plates of alone. The skillet pimento cheese appetizer was incredible too.”

2. Savory Toast, General
“My friend and I met for brunch at General in Forest Park. I had the Savory Toast, which was the perfect blend of crunchy toast and soft cheese with mushrooms, and a delicious balance of savory and sweet with a fresh fruit salad on the side.
Bonus: an old-time string band provided a delightful accompaniment to our meal.”

3. Baked Ziti, Sanpeggios
“Sanpeggios is a Bham favorite for quick and delicious pizza, but don’t overlook the pasta. Their baked ziti is made to order and hits the spot every single time. Make sure to get the cheese bread too.”

4. Pork Barbacoa, El Barrio
This Wednesday special has grilled pork with BBQ sauce on a bed of sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, green apple, pickled jalapeños and red peppers topped with pecans and queso fresco.
It’s really hearty without being too heavy and you leave feeling full and satisfied. There’s a really nice sweet/salty thing going on with the sweet potatoes and green apple vs. the seasonal veggies and pork. For me it’s a solid balanced meal that just happens to also taste really good.”

5. Wine flight + Charcuterie, Golden Age WIne
“I tried Golden Age for the first time and it was amazing. Aside from the delicious wines + cheeses, the ambiance is what will bring me back for more. Also, they had an orange wine, which I didn’t know was a thing. I didn’t know which cheeses to pick so I asked my server to select her favorites.”
