Happy hump day, Birmingham! We’ve rounded up some of the buzziest new + coming soon businesses for you this week. Keep reading to find a coffee shop with a mission, delicious biscuits and more.

1. Biscuit Belly | Hoover

Biscuit Belly is now open in Hoover and it’s definitely worth a visit. They have every kind of biscuit you can imagine from a S’mores biscuit to a smoked brisket and poached egg biscuit.

2. Top of the World Art and Collectibles | Alabaster

Co-owners Melissa Taylor and David Gardner have opened a new comic book and collectibles store in Alabaster. Here is what they told Shelby County Reporter about their inventory:

“We’re a comic book and collectible store. We’ve got everything from Yu-Gi-Oh! cards to original art, a lot of sketch covers done by original comic book artists, plus toys and graphic novels. Anything comic book related, we have.”

3. Bitty & Beau’s Coffeehouse | Homewood

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee—a coffee shop dedicated to employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—is opening a new space in Homewood at the former Valley Cleaners space. This is the second location in Alabama, with its first being in Auburn.

At the new location you’ll find:

  • Outdoor patio
  • Two stories, with space for studying/reading
  • Retail space for Bitty & Beaus

4. Ohm Jiu Jitsu | Birmingham

Russell Marbut and DJ Wright put their heads together to open their own jiu jitsu studio in Birmingham, Ohm Jiu Jitsu. The studio—which is scheduled to open in February—will offer high-level training and instruction to students of all levels.

“We’re really excited to be in the area and to bring something to the community. Whether you want to observe or try jiu jitsu, everybody is welcome to come check us out at any point.”

5. Pizza Hut | Cullman

Construction has broken ground on the new Pizza Hut location off of Highway 31 in Cullman. TYou’ll soon find the famous pizza franchise in the old Buenavista location across from Heath Attaway Auto Sales.
